Backups feature Alan Scott by Roger Stern, Dusty Abell and Mark McKenna; G'nort by Jeff Bailey and Marty G, with art by Joe James and Barb Kaalberg; and "Whatever Happened to...Charlie Vicker?" by Gerard Jones, Tim Hamilton and Romeo Tanghal.     Kilowog sits down with his trainees on an outdoor camping trip on an alien world. Addressing each of the new recruits one by one, he prepares to tell them a tale about the Green Lantern Corps.

    A Green Lantern travels to the planet Fluvian to offer a Green Lantern Ring to scientist Lin Canar. Lin Canar turns it down, citing that he already has super-powers. Instead, the Green Lantern offers it to Dob Zagil. Dob proves to be a rascist militant who imprisons those he does not like whether they are guilty of committing a crime or not. When Lin Canar learns of this, the pits his super-strength against Dob Zagil's power ring. He eventually defeats him, but at the cost of his own super-strength. Lin Canar than accepts the Green Lantern's offer and succeeds Dob Zagil as a member of the Green Lantern Corps.
